Common questions
Is Docora's redaction permanent?
Yes, once you save. Apply Redactions removes the text, pictures and drawings under the marks from the document itself, not just from view, and Docora checks the saved file for the removed text. Until you save, Undo brings them back, so keep the original if you may need it.
Are Docora's signatures digital signatures?
No. Docora places an image of your signature (typed, drawn or scanned) on the page, which is what most everyday forms ask for. It does not create certificate-based digital signatures.
Why can't Docora find text in my scanned PDF?
A scan is a picture of text. Choose Tools → Recognize Text… to make it searchable: recognition runs on your Mac and adds an invisible text layer you can search, select and copy.
Does Docora upload my documents?
No. Neither the app nor its PDF engine has the network entitlement, so macOS blocks any connection. There is no account and no cloud storage.
What happens if Docora quits unexpectedly?
While a document has unsaved changes, Docora keeps a recovery copy. The next time you open Docora it offers to restore those documents with your changes, ready to save, or to discard them. If only the PDF engine stops, Docora tells you and can reopen the document from its recovery copy.
Can Docora open password-protected PDFs?
Yes: enter the password when asked. To add or remove a password, use File → Protect with Password… or File → Remove Password Protection…. New passwords use AES-256 encryption.
Which Macs does Docora run on?
Macs with Apple silicon, running macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
Privacy and data requests
Docora collects nothing. Your documents stay where you keep them, and the app ships sandboxed with no network entitlement, so it is technically incapable of making a network connection at all.
Because nothing leaves your device, there is no account to close and no server-side data for us to export or delete.
On a Mac, moving the app to the Trash leaves what it stored behind.
Delete saved signatures in Tools → Signatures…, and forget recent files with File → Open Recent → Clear Menu. Recovery copies go by themselves when you save or close a document, or when you choose Discard after a crash. To clear everything at once, quit Docora and delete its containers, ~/ and ~/, which hold your signatures, any recovery copies and your preferences.
