LucidCapture
LucidCapture is a screenshot tool that lives in your menu bar and stays out of your way. Press a key, grab what you need, mark it up, and get on with your work.
Menu bar screenshots and markup.
Capture a region, a single window or a whole display from a global shortcut — ⌃⇧3, ⌃⇧4 and ⌃⇧5 out of the box, remappable to whatever you prefer. Window captures come out with a proper macOS drop shadow and padding, so they look finished without extra work.
Every capture lands in your clipboard immediately and appears as a floating thumbnail you can click to edit or drag straight into another app. Annotations — arrows, boxes, highlights, text labels and crops — stay editable rather than being baked into the pixels.
Redaction is real redaction: the covered pixels are destroyed in the exported image, not painted over with a rectangle someone can move aside.
What it does
Launches instantly, does no idle work, and never takes up a slot in your dock.
Region, window and display capture from the keyboard, with remappable hotkeys.
Capture, auto-copy to clipboard, floating thumbnail — click to edit, drag to drop the file elsewhere.
Arrows, boxes, highlights, text and crop. Move, re-edit or delete anything you have already drawn.
Redacted pixels are destroyed in the export, not merely covered.
A keyboard-navigable grid of past captures with Quick Look, search, drag-out and Reveal in Finder.
This app collects no data
LucidCapture collects nothing. It ships sandboxed with no networking entitlement, so it is technically incapable of making a network connection at all.
