Common questions

What happens if I forget my password?

Use your recovery key. If you have lost both, the vault cannot be opened — by you or by us. Your master password is never stored anywhere, which is what makes the encryption real.

Is my vault backed up to iCloud?

No. There is no cloud sync of any kind. Use the app's own encrypted export if you want a backup, and store it somewhere you control.

Can Flowlab Apps read my documents?

No. We have no server, no account system and no key. There is nothing on our side to read.

Does search work offline?

Yes. Text recognition runs on your device with Apple's Vision framework, and the index is stored encrypted alongside your documents.

How do I add a document from another app?

Use the Share sheet and pick “Save to Vault”.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone running iOS 17 or later, and Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Privacy and data requests

Keyclave collects nothing. There is no account, no server and no analytics — and no networking code in the app at all.

Because nothing leaves your device, there is no account to close and no server-side data for us to export or delete. To remove everything the app has stored on iPhone, delete the app from your device.

On a Mac, moving the app to the Trash leaves what it stored behind. Erase the vault inside the app first: on the lock screen choose Use recovery key…, then Lost your recovery key too?, type ERASE and confirm. That overwrites and deletes the encrypted vault and removes Keyclave's entries from your Keychain, which deleting a folder would not. Then quit Keyclave and delete its container, ~/Library/Containers/com.flowlab.keyclave, to clear the preferences left behind. Full detail is in the Keyclave privacy policy.
