Reporting a problem
Please include as much of this as you can — it usually turns a week of guessing into a same-day fix:
- iOS or Android version, and your device model
- Whether the photo was a normal still or a Live Photo
- Roughly how large the photo was, if you know
- What you expected versus what actually happened
- Anything shown under Diagnostics — there is a Copy button in that dialog
Common questions
Do my photos leave my device?
No. The segmentation model is bundled inside the app and runs locally. There is no server involved, and on Android the release build has no INTERNET permission, so a connection is not possible in the first place.
Does it work without a connection?
Yes, completely. Try it in airplane mode — nothing changes.
Does the camera shortcut record anything?
No. Choosing “Take a photo” opens the standard camera for a single shot, which is then handed to the editor. Pixcelate captures no video or audio, and never opens the camera unless you ask it to.
It cut out the wrong thing. What now?
Pixcelate looks for the single most prominent subject in the frame. On a scene with no clear subject — an open landscape, or a flat-lay of many objects — the result can be unpredictable. Cropping tighter around what you want before removing the background usually fixes it.
What happens when I pick a Live Photo?
Pixcelate pulls several still frames out of it, ranks them by sharpness, and compares them against Apple's own key photo so it can preselect the right one. You can override the choice, or ask for the key photo directly.
Where do saved photos go?
Into a Pixcelate album in your normal photo library. The Save confirmation has a View button that opens it.
How do I remove everything the app has stored?
Delete the exported photos from your photo library as you would any others, and delete the app. Its temporary working files go with it — and they are cleared automatically a day after they are written anyway.
Privacy and data requests
Pixcelate collects nothing. Your photos are processed by a model bundled inside the app, on your own device — there is no account, no backend and no analytics. On Android this is enforced rather than promised: the release build does not request the INTERNET permission, so the system itself blocks any connection.
Because nothing leaves your device, there is no account to close and no server-side data for us to export or delete. To remove everything the app has stored, delete the app from your device. Full detail is in the Pixcelate privacy policy.
